Bangkok Trip 11-14 Apr 07

But still, it is the distintive scenery that caught my attention.

The entire tour in the Grand Palace was quite boring without the interesting insights shared by tour guide while visiting the attactions around the palace as we are on a free and easy trip. It is highly recommended that the tour to be accompanied by tour guide or audiobooks which is available for loan at the main entrance. It would deinately gives you total appreciation of the culture and history featured in the palace.

Also, the trp should be scheduled early in the morning especially so that no regrets on missig any attractive spots within the palace since it is open from 10.30 am to 3.30pm. So be sure to schedule your time or you will regret later!

Shot in front of a blue background, the film relief extensively on post-production editing to create a realistic yet artistically beautiful ancient environment based on cgi effects. I hv to say, even the six-packs of the Spartan warriors looks a bit fake to me.

Levi's Copper: An Original, Unearthed - Marketing Gimmicks or True Style?

Have you heard on the new range of Levi's, COPPER that was launched recently? Check it out at http://www.levi.com.my/copper/. Launched with the tag line: "An Original, Unearthed", Levi claimed to be back to basic again where the origins of jeans is the true inspiration for this new range of jeans. Referring back to the year where mining industries is rising, the miners often found their pants being torn apart due to the environment that they were working in was rough and dirty. With the demand of a tougher and more durable material to keep the miners' pants on while working in the mines, especially the COPPER mines, the inventor of Levi Jeans had came up with the idea of using canvas cloth for durability without sacrificing comfort and "11 COPPER rivets studded at the pocket corners and stressed points to make the pants sturdy" according to Levi. From the collaboration between Levi Strauss & tailor Jacob Davis, the Levi 501 is created.

Erm, so why came up with the new range if the Levi 501 is already the original creation from the ground-breaking combination of COPPER rivets on jeans? Apparently a marketing gimmicks, let's check it out if it is worth your penny!

Available in few styles for men, the Carrot/Low Crotch slim fit is the key silhouette for this range besides the standard Slim, Regular Straight, and Loose Straight cutting. The Copper also sports a worn-out look thanks to the brilliant stone-wash that help creates the look and feel as if it is the pair of jeans actually worn by a miner before. Inspired by Western Cowboy theme, the finishing are named as Orange County, Gold Rush and American Cowboy which all features "exaggerated whiskers, paper crease marks and hint of scraping".

Enthusiastic and curious of how jeans can be reinvented, I dropped by the nearest Levi's outlet for a fitting. The price tag was a little bit deterring and make hell lot of sense after seeing the advertising that Levi had put in for the COPPER campaign. The fit of the new range is slimmer even if you are wearing the straight cut.

To hype things up, there is also roadshows scheduled to part your money with extra customisable prints with every purchase of the range! I, myself, for instance became the fool to grab the perfect opportunity during the roadshow. However, it was to my utmost dismay that the size and cutting which I was craving for is not available and I had to end up taking the carrot cut and one size bigger than my current waist in order to get that customisation on my jeans which I believe, would be limited to those who bought the jeans during the roadshow only. So, if interested to join me as a fool, take a look at the Levi's Copper website again and mark it on your calendar!

Upgrade yourself, TM!

TM is the sole telephony service provider in Malaysia. Due to the monopoly nature of the company on the telephony service, it had been known for being not customer friendly and is slow in every expect except billing matters. The recent privatisation and rebranding exercise had since provoked improvements in areas such as cutomer service and providing more innovative products to suits the demand of its customers.

One of the stronghold service TM is known for is the Streamyx braodband internet service. Attracted by a recent promotion offerred by TM and other participating company, I have decided to sign up for the Streamyx offer. But before signing up, one would need to have a fixed telephone line installed. In view of that, I have paid a visit to the nearest TM Point service centre.

After a long wait in the queue, it was fially my turn to be served. The front desk personnel was warm and seems ready for my application. I told him that I was only applying the phone line if the Streamyx service is available. But to my utmost surprise and dissapointment, the sales exec told me that there is no such capability for TM to advise whether the Streamyx service is available or not before customer had sign up and install the phone line. The most they can do is by using your neighbours phone number to check the Streamyx availability and there is no sure guarantee still for the availability is again depends on the free ports!

So, by signing up the phone line service, I would have to fork out RM 135 for registration fees and be bonded via contract for at least 12 months! Only RM 75 is refundable after the termination of 1 year contract. If there is no Streamyx service, it defeat the purpose of signing up the phone line and you will get RM 135 poorer! Anyway, I had gambled my way since the service desperately required.

Why I am making a fuss here? I would like to make use of my freedom of speech here to strongly urge TM to upgrade itself regarding this matter as I believe many Malaysian had been the silent victim for TM's shortcoming! Gone were the days where GLCs like TM can treat their customers like beggers, I hope this is awake up call for you, TM!
