Distorted news report from local media

See the difference......

With so much happening in Malaysian politics nowadays, one shouldn't be surprised government try their very best to censor and filter media report in the name to safeguard the peace and harmony.

Let's take a look at a report entitled "Get out of BN, Bukit Bendera UMNO Head tells Gerakan", depicted here is what was quoted by local news media, The Star Online on what was uttered by Mr Ahmad: "Ahmad said Dr Koh should apologise not only to the Malays and Muslims but also to the Chinese in the country for creating so much tension.
“I want Koh and Gerakan to be responsible in case any untoward incidence takes place in our country.
“I hope we will not be pushed against the wall, ” he said, as supporters thumped tables and shouted “Hidup Melayu”. (http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/9/9/nation/1982552&sec=nation).

What is your opinion after reading it? It was as though Mr. Ahmad is just yearning for some attention and spiked his speech with some personal attacks on Dr. Koh and playing the racial card. Wait till you see the more thorough report from TODAYonline, a leading Singapore news media who is not shying away reports on Malaysia news in their freely-circulated printed media.

The article on TODAY entitled: "M'sian PM Vows to get tough on UMNO Man" (http://www.todayonline.com/articles/275021.asp) cited Mr Ahmad as saying:"Malays were losing patience with minorities, particularly ethnic Chinese politicians." during a press conference held on Monday. He was quoted further for threatening the Malaysian ethnic Chinese which he has previously referred to as "immigrants" :"“I urge the Chinese not to become like the Jewish in America, where it is not enough that they control the economy, but they also want to dominate politics,”
“Consider this a warning from the Malays,” he added. “The patience of the Malays has a limit. Do not push us against the wall, for we will be forced to turn back and push the Chinese for our own survival.”

What I wanted to highlight here is not only the unruly, disrespectful and irresponsible racist remarks made by Mr. Ahmad but also to show that how biased the government-protected national media is when reporting news which touches on sensitive issues. Without giving a clear picture of what has actually happened, it has technically lied to the public by hiding crucial facts! this is probably why we have so many political blogs in the cyberspace updating Malaysians on the latest happenings albeit correct or wrong. In the end, we have two side of the story and no one knows what to believe anymore.......
